Valve Tube Guitar Amps stocks valves for musical instrument amplifiers, jukeboxes, and hi-fi systems.

We’re based in the lovely seaside town of Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast.

Stewart, who runs VTGA, has decades of experience repairing valve amps and playing guitar. He holds a 1st class honours degree in electronics engineering, matching formal theory with years of practical experience.

VTGA stocks a comprehensive range of valves and components. We test all our valves at real amp voltages on our suite of vintage, modern, and custom-built valve testers. Our array of equipment includes an LCR bridge, valve characterisation testers, signal generators, digital storage and traditional oscilloscopes, vintage AVO testers, and custom-built units that allow us to check valves with the greatest precision in the world. Though we now only occasionally repair amps, we have fixed everything from Voxs, Marshalls, and Fenders, to boutique amps from around the world. We have also done major amp restorations.

We understand all valves are not created equal. Different brand names, even from the same factory, give you different tone colours. The challenge is so much choice and so little time! We have almost 20 variations on the ECC83 (12AX7) pin alone, all with differing tonal qualities. Please ask us for advice.

VTGA carries valves from JJ Electronic in Slovakia and the Saratov factory in the Russian Federation. We carry Electro Harmonix (EH), Sovtek, Genelax and Tung Sol as an official dealer. We buy direct from manufacturers and carefully test and match all the valves we sell using our love of valves, our decades of expertise, and our arsenal of top-shelf testing gear to ensure the best possible quality.
