More New Valves July 2016

We have introduced more new valves which are all now in stock.
We now have the more specialised valves that are used in Ampeg and Peavey guitar amps.  The Electro Harmonix 12DW7 ( also known as the ECC832) is a double triode and in this valve one half is like an ECC83  ( 12 AX7) with a gain of 100  and the other half like an ECC82 ( 12AU7) with a gain of 20. Peavey and Ampeg took advantage of this double triode variant.  It can be put in the V1 position of any amp where there is an 12AX7 ( ECC83) and lower the gain. It offers the chance to lower the gain and introduce new tones
We have also introduced some of the earlier generation double triodes that were first made in 1939 !  These are found  in Jukeboxes post war until about 1963.  They are also used in hi-fi of this period and are finding favour again. Basically these are the forerunners of the ECC81 /12AT7, ECC82/12AU7, and ECC83/12AX7.   Part numbers are 6SL7 and the 6SN7
We have also introduced the EL34 from Electro Harmonix in matched pairs and quads. We now offer three El34 variation – the other two being the Tung Sol El34B and the JJ EL34 . All are available in matched pairs and quads.
We have been asked for the Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC because it is fitted to many amps as original equipment, sometimes with different branding.  Marshall is a good example. These valves are built to rigid military standards and they can withstand higher voltages than many 5881 or 6L6 types. They sound rich and warm too ! These valves are identical to the Sovtek 5881WXT except they have a smaller neater base.
