The standard JJ EL34 has a reputation for sounding thin and JJ made the EL34 II to address this tone issue. Used in 100 watt amplifiers such as the Marshall DSL100. Note that we use the much improved JJ EL34 II in our kits rather than the cheaper standard EL34.
