Introducing Four Interesting JJ Valves

JJ New Valves introduced

We are expanding our range of valves and we are introducing four interesting JJ valves to our line up.
The first three can help shape your amp sound in different ways.
EL844
The EL844 is exactly pin compatible to the EL84 ( 6BQ5) and it has an interesting twist.
It is highly popular in the USA and it was orginally developed by JJ Electronic based on feedback from the USA.
The valve is 9 watts versus the 11 watts of the EL84.  The big benefit is that it the valve breaks up earlier. This is very handy when practising in the bedroom so that the rest of the family in the house and the neighbours benefit too. You get the cranked up sounds of your amp at lower volumes as compared to EL84’s  It will give you a different rock sound and so brings new character to your amp with only a valve swap out.  This is excellent fo ramps like the Fender Blues Jr.  Although  valve is very popular in the USA but , so far,  not readily available in the UK, and we have them in stock.
5751
If we go to the other end of the musical rainbow, the 5751 is a lower gain ECC83/12AX7.  So if you want to get more headroom and that clean sound then this valve is deal for replacing the first valve that takes the inputs from your instrument. So for you country players this is definitely worth putting in your  amp in the first valve position which has an ECC83/12AX7!!
ECC803S
This is an ECC83/12AX7 compatible valve and it is basically a long plated version with built in extra cooling. So it is designed for long service life.  Feedback is that the longer plate enhances the bass and mid range as compared to the “standard” ECC83S.  Longer plate valves are more likely to be microphonic than short plate valves so if you plan to use this valve in a combo amp , then you should use a damper ring on the valve.  This issue is not a problem  in amp heads. Click here for our blog article which discusses long plate valves
12AY7
JJ Electronic have very recently started manufacturing the 12AY7.  This is another double triode. It is pin compatible with the ECC83 ( 12AX7) and is lower gain than the ECC83.  It was used in a number of early Fender Tweed amps in the first pre-amp stage.  It is also used in earl Leak Hif and other Hifi models too. We have added this one to our product range.
So that is the story on us introducing four interesting JJ valves to our product line. We will always add more. Just let us know what valves you think we should add.  Email to info@valvetubeguitaramps.com
