The Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC delivers a warm, round tone that “sweetens” any vintage or modern guitar amp.
If an amp uses 6L6-style output tubes, it most probably has Sovtek 5881s in its sockets. Built to rigid military standards, the 5881 tolerates higher voltages than any other 6L6. The ruggedised construction ensures long life even for amps that get lugged around from gig to gig. In fact, they’re frequently used as replacements for the old 7027 valves in vintage Ampegs. Extremely consistent from piece to piece, the Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC is arguably the most reliable current production 6L6 available. Used by Marshall, Soldano, Solo, and others. The Sovtek 5881 has a heater voltage of 6.3 volts at 0.88 amperes. Maximum plate voltage is 250 volts, while maximum plate current is 73 mA.
Manufactured in Russia. The Russian factory matches the valves, and we verify the match and test the valves for quality assurance at real amp voltages on our VTGA-200 custom built tester. We also do listening checks on this tester. Each set includes our test certificate on the boxes.
Compatible with 5881 and 6L6 sockets. This valve is identical to the Sovtek 5881, except that it has a much thinner and neater base. Folks refer to these narrow bases as a “wafer base”
