Verified PurchaseOne of the best tubes ever made. I'm a huge fan of high-gain amps, and these tubes are excellent at reducing gain and compression. They can also significantly reduce hiss in the preamp section. The EVH 5150 III Stealth, with its seven tubes in the preamp section, produces tones of hiss. I use four of the 12AY7s in the V1, V2, V3, and V5 preamp sections, resulting in 50% less hiss. The gain controls are now fully functional, ranging from 0 to 10
