The EH7025 preamp valve, reintroduced in 2020. This version features closely matched triodes to ensure even wear and better tone in amps with push pull output stages (i.e. amps with two or more output valves).
Electro-Harmonix has released a low noise, low microphonic version of the 12AX7 that meets all specifications required as a 7025. The original 7025 valve was a 12AX7 tested and selected for the lowest noise and microphonics for the critical first preamp stage of amplifiers to ensure the best possible clarity and tone. To consistently meet the 7025 specification, Electro-Harmonix has redesigned the structure of the 12AX7, implementing construction techniques that ensure the absolute lowest noise and microphonics possible. In all samples tested, there was no noise or microphonics detected.
The Electro-Harmonix EH7025 has a mid-range that gives clarity and definition, and a smooth top-end for warmth and balance. With these characteristics, along with the exceptionally low noise and low microphonics, the Electro-Harmonix EH7025 works equally well in vintage and modern high-gain guitar amplifiers, as well as sensitive phono preamps. Fender’s classic amps specified the 7025, so if you’re after an authentic vintage tone, the EH7025 is your jam.
