In 1957, the Marconi-Osram Valve Company introduced the “King of Power Valves”, the legendary Gold Lion KT88 and quickly became the heart and soul of many classic amplifiers. The Marconi-Osram Valve Company ceased production in the early 1980s, and the Genalex Gold Lion KT88 has since become very expensive and hard to find. Supplies have dwindled almost to zero.
After extensive research and engineering, the Russian valve factory in Saratov has faithfully reproduced the original. They recreated the valve down to the finest detail, with key features such as gold plated grid wires, carbonised screen grids, and a tri-alloy clad plate structure. As a result, we now we have a current-production valve providing the sonic sweetness of the original.
We ensure quality matching in-house on our suite of valve testers, and supply a certificate verifying the test results. Tested at real amp voltages. We are an authorised supplier.
