In 1959, Tung-Sol developed a premium, up-rated version of the 6BQ5/EL84 for industrial and military circuits, designated the 7189. Because of its higher plate voltage rating and increased clean headroom, it became a favorite power tube for medium output stereo amplifiers and receivers made by H. H. Scott, Sherwood, Fisher, Lafayette, and many other hi-fi manufacturers. It also appeared in high-end guitar amplifiers manufactured by Magnatone. With its increased specs, it served as an upgrade for 6BQ5/EL84 amplifiers, enhancing performance and reliability. Many of the best amplifiers and receivers from the 1960s and 1970s relied on the 7189 for their mojo.

Sadly, the original 7189 valve ceased production in the early 1980s, and vintage 7189 valves have since become expensive and hard to find. So, in order to keep all those fine vintage 7189 amplifiers and receivers to keep rocking, Tung-Sol reissued the 7189 tube. These new Tung Sol 7189 valves feature the same specifications as the original 7189s, ensuring high fidelity and outstanding performance.

Strongly committed to quality manufacturing, Tung-Sol valves are renowned for their reliability and great tone. Today’s new production Tung-Sol valves continue that legacy. Tung-Sol reflects the best valve construction with unsurpassed tone and reliability. Manufactured in Russia.

Tested in-house for maximum quality assurance. The matched quads come with a test certificate showing the anode current and Gm.

Safety

Please make sure your amp's bias is set correctly. If not, you could hamper your tone and even limit the life of the output valves. Also note that valve amps can retain high voltages even after being switched off. If you are not sure of fitting your valves, please seek the services of qualified personnel.
