A number of valve sellers offer output valves that are “burned in”. Burning in valves means basically running them for a number of hours. It is claimed that the benefit is that this weeds out the ” weak valves” and improves the matching of the valves as the implication is that the valves go out of matching if they are matched from new. A very sick Mesa Boogie Caliber DC 10 amp arrived for me to have a look at. Our first Mesa Boogie Amp repair. Â This one had one dead channel and my 22 watt Fender Deluxe was as loud as this amp. We recently repaired a Bugera V55 Infinium amp.  We added a Bugera V55 Infinium video to our video channel . There has been a lot of chatter on especially North American forums about these amps so we thought we would show the amp repair  with an amp that was blowing fuses. We then did a quick review on its build and features and then finished off with a couple of suggestions to improve the amp.
Why did that valve suddenly stop working? I thought it might be useful to look at what the common failures in valves are as they age. I have had a number of folks ask me why their amp suddenly started blowing fuses. My first recommendation is to replace the fuse , unplug the valve rectifier and see if it still blowing fuses.
