The JJ 5U4GB rectifier valve appears in many famous amps.

Valve rectifiers add a characteristic “sag” to audio signals, a bit like compression, producing better sustain compared to solid state rectified amps. 5U4GB valves give your amp a better sound! The JJ 5U4GB is a better alternative to replacing your old 5U4 with a solid state rectifier. Old valve rectifiers eventually loose emission, resulting in higher internal impedance and lower output voltage, leading to reduced clean headroom and lower output watts from your amp. We recommend changing your rectifier every couple of years or when you change the output valves. You can keep the old one as a spare for emergencies.

Safety

Please make sure your amp's bias is set correctly. If not, you could hamper your tone and even limit the life of the output valves. Also note that valve amps can retain high voltages even after being switched off. If you are not sure of fitting your valves, please seek the services of qualified personnel.
